  2. Just read this to my 8-year-old daughter, who said, "I think it was a cute story." She and I both enjoyed the colorful artwork.

Hi Danielle! I just found your book through Linked In. As a rescuer, I love it. Your artwork is beautiful and the story is lovely. A couple thoughts: since cats are safest inside, I wonder if you could tweak the page about “the dog next door” to clarify that Luca is inside. Also, wonder if you could mention that the shelter neutered Luca? Also wonder if you could allude to the # of pets at shelters needing homes .. in a way that is not frightening to cheldren, but is inspiring in terms of adopting rather than buying. No matter how obvious it is to us, it is shocking to me how many families just don’t understand why buying should not be an option. My two cents. Thank you very much for all the time and effort you have put into this book. You are going to help save a bunch of furry lives. 🙂

    • Hi Deb: Thanks for the comments. We have actually made quite a few changes to the book from what you are seeing on the blog to account for just these kinds of issues. For example, the picture of Luca outside teasing the dog has been taken out. And we have added more detail, and more animals, to the shelter image. The book is going to the printers in a few weeks, and I will definitely post the spreads on the blog. Have a good weekend, Danielle
